But I am moving this blog to Blogger.  WordPress just doesn’t do it for me.  New location is here.

Joe the Fashionista

If the RNC has $150,000 to spend on clothes for Sarah Palin, could they spare $30 and buy Joe the “Plumber” a collared shirt before he goes on the cable news circuit?

Good website, even better book

with one comment

Anathem in addition to being the latest Neal Stephenson book and therefore excellent, has a very good website.  First off, there is a movie-style trailer, something I have never seen for a book before.  There are also links to recordings of the various mathematical chants performed by the avout in the book.

It is helpful, but not necessary, to have read Plato’s Allegory of the Cave before reading Anathem.  The concept of perception from the Allegory of the Cave is at the heart of the ideological battle between the two main groups of philosopher/scientist in the novel.

More thoughts after I finish the book.

The Large Hadron Collider is out of commission for a few months, but once it’s up and running again, you’ll want to check here to make sure everything is OK.

I can’t think of a more exciting issue for this debate than who is a better sub-committee chairman.

Favorite website of the moment

with one comment

Amanda recently pointed me to 101 Cookbooks.  It’s the first cooking website that actually like.  I have never had a lot of luck at other recipe sites.  Either they weren’t my style of food or the sites search engines were terrible.  But 101 Cookbooks has really good looking food and they are sorted in an intelligent manner.  We had TLT sandwiches and tomato soup for dinner last week.  The sandwich tasted like something you would pay $7 or $8 to get a Whole Foods and cost a good bit less to make at home.

Ugh

Now that I am becoming Mr. Web 2.0, I have come to the realization that my blog is ugly.  Like unpleasant to look at.  I need to take a look at the themes around here and make some changes.
