Down in the Mine

Labor day weekend hiking

Right on cue, summer seems to have left the DC region.  The temperature is in the 80s and there is little humidity.  To celebrate the end of another oppressive DC summer, Amanda and I headed to Central Maryland to do some hiking in Catoctin Mountain Park.  Although the vistas were not as magnificent as they were in Alaska, it was nice to enjoy some of the beauty of our region. Afterwards, we spent a few hours in downtown Frederick. The city was much nicer than either of us had anticipated; and as an added bonus we got some free books from a woman cleaning out her house before selling it.
